Last Saturday was our 22nd wedding anniversary so we decided to go away for a long weekend. We headed off up to Edinburgh by train with a busy few days planned. After checking into the hotel and having a lovely meal in town we went to the Edinburgh Jazz Bar to hear five guys do their thing, apparently they just invite several musicians there for the evening, who haven't practised together and they just play - it was really good.
On Sunday morning , after a fab cooked breakfast, it was raining so we changed our plans and went to the nearby local Baptist Church, we were going to go to an Elim church there but the weather was against us. So, after a good service we were delighted to see that the weather had changed and was sunny so we set off for the Royal Botanical Gardens. We had a good walk round and took loads of pictures, the glasshouses were great, loads of different ones all with different themes.
The Edinburgh architecture is amazing, so many different styles, all different shapes and sizes and all so old too. When we got back to the hotel I was really pleased as the men's Wimbledon final was still going. Sadly, Andy Roddick lost but it was a great match.
We then went out and ate in Browns, we had a fab meal followed by a little wander round the town until the thunder came and so we ended up back at the hotel bar for a hot chocolate and a whiskey!
On Monday morning the weather hadn't improved so we decided not to go and visit the castle but went shopping instead before heading back to the station for the journey back to London. Once in London we headed off to the O2 to see James Taylor in concert - a great way to end the weekend. We've wanted to see him live for ages and we managed to get a great deal on ebay, so all in all we had a great weekend.
