Never Let Go......... please

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-27 - 22:49:56

Having a bit of a nightmare week really, what with one thing and another. Don't want to go into details on here really, but as I listened to the radio this afternoon I heard this song and how applicable the words are to one so close at the minute. I bought the CD and printed out the words and gave them as a gift. I wonder, will they be listened to and treasured or will they be discarded like so many others?

We really do have nothing to fear if we have God on our side - we just need to acknowledge that and trust it and when it seems as though our world is falling apart hold firm to that truth.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near.

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me.

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth.

Chorus:
Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You.

Thoughts on Friday Night's Fun

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-24 - 10:46:47

The garden is tidied for the winter. It looks so much better now.

We had a long drive to Eastbourne, the traffic was a pain but it was quite enjoyable anyway. The concert was great - not quite what we were expecting as it was part of a weekend conference and was the opening session but I still enjoyed it regardless. The music and singing was led by Stuart Townend, Lou Fellingham and the band, Phatfish.  It was brilliant just to be with loads of other christians in the presence of God and to just rest in Him and worship Him.  The theme for the conference was 'The Veil Torn in Two' and we were reminded throughout the evening of the confidence and security we can have in Christ if we are truly His, through His shed blood on the cross. The price has been paid for us and no further sacrifice ever needs to be made. He is fathful and we are secure in Him and in His promises. The verses we read were from Hebrews 10 v 19-25 - how precious those words are.

Long Weekend 2

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-23 - 09:23:08

I really could get used to working only 4 days a week. Long Weekend No 2 is upon me and is very welcome. Had a nightmare day yesterday though trying to get finishd up at work to enable it to happen, but I know it was worth it.

Last night we went out for a quick meal with Cheryl & Hamish and then Cheryl & I went to see Andrew Lloyd-Weber's Aspects of Love at the theatre, it was starring David Essex whose voice is recogniseable but no where near as strong and powerful as it once was. He's not ageing badly though - just rather more portly than he once was! Aren't we all?

Gotta get my hair done this morning, do some general bits at home and then off to Eastbourne for a worship concert tonight. Going to see Stuart Townend, Lou Fellingham and Phatfish, hopefully they will all be as good as usual and we'll have a great time worshipping God together.
It seems like a lovely morning out there, the sun is shining so I think I'm gonna go and tidy the garden up before I go out - sort out the tubs etc. It's got to be done sometime and there's no time like the present!

Blessings

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-20 - 23:34:17

There are times for us all when life is just so constant and routine, maybe each day is very much the same, day in and day out. Getting up, going to work, washing, cooking, looking after family etc, tidying the house, and so on and so forth before going to bed and starting all over again the next day. Blessings come in the form of interruptions to those routine day to day happenings. It may be a random act of kindness, a hug round the neck from a child, a friend dropping by for a coffee, a sudden awareness of creation around you or a momentary lifting of the spiritual curtain to show you how very much God loves you.

Blessings ARE a blessing, they encourage us in the midst of troubles and burdens, and bring moments of joy in the midst of daily occurrences. They make the routine easier to deal with and life so much more enjoyable. Appreciating the blessings that God sprinkles throughout our lives helps to get us through the tough times. Sometimes we may be overwhelmed at the blessings in our lives and other times we may need to just stop and remind ourselves of them.

Blessings are a reminder that God loves us and that He is paying attention to our lives and what is going on in our worlds. So, we should be truly thankful for every blessing that God showers upon us.

Gloomy Monday Morning

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-19 - 07:49:07
What a morning, dark, gloomy, cold and wet. Thunder sounds, the bird bath in the garden is overflowing and the rain is lashing down. It would be SOOOOO good to go back upstairs and get back into bed again but alas I cannot. There's a daughter to get to school, and loads to be done both at work and at home and I'm just gonna have to face the day and all it brings joyfully!

Rejoice in the Lord always!!!

Long weekend 1

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-16 - 20:31:36

Well, the weekend started early for me. I had today off work, need to use up some holiday as I can't carry it over to next year(shame!)  Still, it was nice to have a little lie in. I then met Cheryl for brunch in town and it was nice not to be so rushed while going round the shops, it's normally always a race getting round everywhere in time. Still, Christmas is certainly coming, the windows, lights, decorations etc are really getting everyone in the mood.

I've spent the afternoon trying to get up-to-date with some paperwork and bits that need sorting but there is still so much to do, I've hardly dented the pile! Oh well, there's always another time. I've read a little bit, something I don't get to do so much during the week, listened to some Stuart Townend and Tim Hughes and even cleaned the kitchen. Just had a delicious bowl of spaghetti with olives and capers and am now going to sit down and prepare some daily devotions for our trip to Kosova in December.  There's 14 to do.

How nice it would be to only work 4 days a week!! It's not gonna happen, but at least I have next Friday off too!!

Quote for the weekend.......

God's glory

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-16 - 18:54:12

The universe is God's glory.
His power is in the thunder
And the waterfall.
His majesty is the ocean
And the sky.
His grace is the child's laugh
And the rose.
Constant is His might.
Unfailing is His love.
His breath is in the wind.
He whispers on the breeze.
Unending is His diversity.
Each creation
Be it snowflake or rainbow
Is unique.
From the smallest to the greatest
From the mightiest to the least
From the butterfly to the beast
Upon each the Master has laid His hand
To create His universe so grand.

Consuming Fire

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-14 - 16:40:52

I have had a particular song on my brain all week, after Sunday's evening service. It's one of those really catchy tunes that goes round your brain time and time again. The message on Sunday was about God being 'an all consuming fire'. The words are below and its by Tim Hughes:

There must be more than this
oh breath of God come breath within
There must be more than this
Spirit of God we wait for you
Fill us anew we pray
Fill us anew we pray.

Consuming Fire
Fan into flame
a passion for your name
Spirit of God
fall in this place
Lord have your way
Lord have your way
with us.

Come like a rushing wind
Fill us with power from on high
Now set the captives free
leave us abandoned to your praise
Lord let your glory fall
Lord let your glory fall.

(repeat chorus)

David Gray at the Camden Roundhouse

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-13 - 08:03:11

Last night we popped to London after work to go and hear David Gray in concert again. I had never heard of the Camden Roundhouse but knew it would be a small venue. It was in fact a great venue for a concert - the sound was superb and the atmosphere terrific. He put on a really good show and I'd say it was probably the best performance I have seen from him live. He sang a couple of new ones, lots of oldies and really seemed as though he was enjoying himself. Only shame was that he has a different band and the old drummer was missing, he was always really good and added an extra buzz.

All in all though, it was a great night's entertainment.

News from the weekend.

by RacyTracy @ 2007-11-12 - 08:08:57

Seems ages since I've been able to post on here. Have been creating a website for the house in France and so every spare moment has been spent on doing that. Still, it's semi done now and just needs John to go and take a few more photos to finish it off.

Had a good weekend though. We went to see the new film out "Lions for Lambs" on Friday night starring Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. It was OK, another political film about war.  Saturday was the trip briefing day for our trip to Kosova in December, where we met others going on the trip and discussed the itinerary etc. Not long to go now, 4 more weeks. Saturday night, John and I went to the prayer meeting for Bromley Town Centre orgnised by the Churches Together group, we had a good time of worship and a good couple of prayer sessions too. It was nice to meet up with people we hadn't seen for a while and with other christians from many other churches and know that we all have Christ in common.

Sunday, was our Family Service and lunch, so we stayed at the church and carried on our conversations over some nice food and then went home and caught up with what had been going on in the X - Factor.
The evening service was all about God being an 'all consuming fire'.   Wow!
